Little Island Furcon not holding in 2021; virtual event planned

In a Telegram group post, Scarlarius, chairman of Singapore’s Little Island Furcon (LIFC) has recently announced they will not be holding their event this year.

To clarify, the post was made inside LIFC’s official Telegram group. The link is given here: https://twitter.com/littleislandfc/status/1110126680197087233?s=21 and internal post link https://t.me/c/1297222220/16542

He says despite the returning of local large scale gatherings, it’s limited to MICE and business-related events.

MICE, short for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions, events refer to Business-to-Business (B2B) events such as:

  • meetings,
  • incentive travels,
  • conferences, and
  • exhibitions.

According to the Singapore Tourism Board, events that are “substantially recreational or social in character, such as company D&Ds, networking events or gala dinners, do not fall within the MICE events contemplated here and are currently not permitted.”

With that said, LIFC therefore does not fall within the allowed event categories at the moment.

A virtual event is being planned, and 2022 dates will come soon.

**EDIT 8/3/2021 10:20am Singapore Time: Made clear on the regulation source – the info is from the STB, or the Singapore Tourism Board. The Telegram group and post link is given for extra clarification on the source’s legitimacy.
