Anthrocon is the world’s biggest furry convention!

But first – the current record holder: Midwest FurFest 2022, with 13,641 attendees. Today, Anthrocon 2023? 13,644 attendees. Those three furries are the tie-breaker.

But Anthrocon got their record down in history during a rather suffocating time.

Canadian forests were burning to the north in their worst yet, suffocating cities from Toronto to New York and Pittsburgh. One attendee reported an air quality index of 167 – quite unhealthy it was.

Bad air quality? How about a bad wallet day? Reportedly, an Anthrocon admin said the furcon was fined over US$10,000 because of attendees putting furry stickers in the venue’s public space.

Well, let alone already on lampposts in the streets of Pittsburgh!

But despite such setbacks, it was a great furry weekend. Furries local and global came back to the welcoming arms of Pittsburgh as usual, vibrantly colouring the streets as a recognised cultural icon of the city.
