On Saturday (June 3, 2023), Anthro Northwest (ANW) founder Gabriel Felix publicly slammed furry fandom cancel culture. Their statement (archived June 10) was published on ANW’s official Twitter account.
Mr. Felix pointed out the trend of taking shortcuts to judge others, vilifying them wholly and not giving a chance to listen and for people to change in the furry community.

But many furries asked instead what’s the context of the statement, let alone some saying they do not understand it, even mocking it.
ANW’s statement heavily used poetic language to reference current problems in the furry community. Many called it vague and confusing.
Then, furries assumed about the context. For example, some thought an ANW staff got in trouble, thus the furcon “prepared the public relations work” in response. GFTV cannot verify all of these assumptions.
Not long after, other furcons in America made parodies of ANW’s statement, bearing the same post taglines.
Tantroo McNally, an editor of British furry news site Flayrah, called this a “public relations blunder” in an article.
As of Jul 13, 2023, the ANW statement was deleted.
