FurMIT 2023 “Las Vegas” was held from July 8 to 9 at Miaoli Shangshun Yukon World.
Decorated with a casino hall in mind, this event brought many activities never before seen in Taiwan’s furry events, attracting furries from all over the world.
When FurMIT opened registrations, the debut of a special registration tier with a high price tag triggered debate among attendees.
The “Black Diamond” status, priced at NT$8,888 (S$373.30), was a big deal because it offered plenty of benefits, souvenirs, and other items, and caused quite a furore amongst attendees when registration opened.
Plus, the event was also promoted in cooperation with TWPawsOfficial, a Taiwan-based furry livestreamers’ group. Their engagement at the event attracted a lot of attention.
According to official statistics, 1,279 people registered for FurMIT.
FurMIT this year is based on the famous Las Vegas in the United States. Many casino items have been added to the event decorations to enhance the immersive experience.
In addition to traditional casino games such as the roulette, slot machines and blackjack, the venue was also had jackpot machines for participants to earn points for the event.
Event points? In FurMIT 2023, attendees can earn points by playing games, attending panels, voting in performances, and so on.
At the end of the event, the person with the most points will not only receive FurMIT’s official commemorative mahjong set but will also have their fursona featured on next year’s FurMIT theme artwork.
In addition to casino games and panels, two new events were added to this year’s event: a dance battle and an auction conference.
In the dance battle, two teams, called “Sparkling Spades” and “Hot Hearts”, will each flaunt their dance moves on stage. The audience will vote for the winner after each round. Team “Sparkling Spades” won.
Attendees also could put up items for the auction conference. As the rule goes: the highest bidder wins the item.
FurMIT also continued to organize the highly acclaimed “Cardboard Box Land”, “Balloon Party”, and the “Carousel” for attendees.
This year’s FurMIT DJ Party invited Teru Fox, ICE, and SORAMI, a well-known DJ in the Japanese furry scene, to be the DJs and to “rock” the crowd with their powerful music.
This year’s panels at FurMIT were also open to volunteers.
There were 28 panels on topics ranging from fursuit handling and photography to tours, attracting many participants to attend the lectures they were interested in.
This year’s raffle proceedings went to the Taiwan Stone Tiger Conservation Association, amassing a total of NT$258,850 (S$10,877.14). It was the first time that a Taiwanese furmeet had multiple fursuit heads as prizes.
Next year’s FurMIT will be themed the “Taiwan Golden Furry Film Festival”.

2023 FurMIT「毛斯维加斯」：沉浸式主题带来全新兽聚体验
2023 FurMIT「毛斯维加斯」 7 月 8 日至 9 日在苗栗尚顺育乐世界举办。
本次活动结合赌场、竞标等元素，带来许多在台湾兽迷聚会上未曾出现的活动，吸引全球各地的兽迷们前来参与。
「毛斯维加斯」在开放报名时因首次引入价格高昂的特殊报名身分而引发讨论。
价格高达新台币 8,888 元（新币 373.30、人民币 2047.84）的「黑钻级」身分因提供多项优惠、纪念品等而要价不斐，曾于开放报名时在参加者间带来不小的旋风。
除了报名身分成为焦点外，本次活动也与台湾虚拟兽人实况主团体「TWPawsOfficial」合作宣传，用相关活动吸引众人目光。
据官方统计，本次聚会报名人数共有 1,279 人。
聚会以美国知名赌城拉斯维加斯为基础，在活动设计上添加了许多赌场的元素，提供参加者沉浸感十足的体验。
会场中除设置轮盘、拉霸机、 21 点牌桌等传统赌场中经常出现的游戏项目外，更设置摇奖机等机台，供参加者赚取活动积分。
活动也引入了积分机制。在本次聚会中，玩家可透过游玩游戏、参加讲座、在表演中投票等多种方式取得积分。
活动结束时，积分累积数量最高者除了可以获得官方制作的纪念麻将套组外，更可让自己的设定出现在明年活动的主视觉设计上。
除了赌场游戏、讲座等活动外，本次的毛斯维加斯也新增了「舞台大对决」与「竞标大会」两大活动。
在舞台大对决中，参加者们将会被分成「璀璨黑桃」、「炙热红心」两大队伍轮流在台上进行才艺竞赛，并在每回合结束后由台下的观众票选出优胜者。
活动最后由璀璨黑桃胜出。而在竞标大会中，参加者们可于事先提供拍卖品，由现场的参加者们竞标，出价最高者即可拍得该物品。
毛斯维加斯也延续举办了上届备受好评的「纸箱乐园」、「气球派对」与旋转木马等活动，让参加者们自由前往体验。
每次聚会皆会举办的「DJ Party」（DJ 派对）则邀请到了 Teru Fox、ICE 与日本兽圈知名 DJ SORAMI 担任 DJ ，用节奏强劲的音乐「嗨」翻所有人。
今年的讲座活动一样由自愿者申请报名。
本次聚会的讲座数目高达 28 个，主题从“马内”、摄影到旅游团等应有尽有，吸引了众多参加者前往参加自己有兴趣的讲座。
“马内”是个台湾兽圈用语，意思相等于英语说的“fursuit handler”。
由于穿上兽装后，装扮者的五官知觉远逊于常人，有时会搭配一名未经装扮的小帮手（或称马内、小精灵）辅助，协助控制场面、引导兽装行走或避开危险。

今年公益抽奖同样捐助给台湾石虎保育协会。
本次的公益抽奖共募集到新台币 258,850 元（新币 10,877.14、人民币 59,298.55），同时也是台湾兽聚会首次有多颗毛装头套做为奖品。
明年的 FurMIT 将以 《台湾金毛影展》为主题。
