Malaysian furcon Furs Upon Malaysia (FurUM) 2023 concluded in success, having held from Dec 9 to 10, 2023, offering a well-organized schedule of activities, attracting furries from across the globe, including renowned French animator Kékéflipnote as their guest of honour.
Attendees have praised the event’s organization and diverse range of activities, commending the convention’s volunteer team as well who facilitated smooth operations.
Notably, this year’s attendance surpassed previous records. Their latest count of 728 demonstrated FurUM’s growing popularity within the furry community.
Fundraising efforts also exceeded expectations. 18,518 Malaysian Ringgit (S$5,310.62) was raised for Katzen Cat Sanctuary, a substantial increase from their 2019 donation.
For the whole duration of FurUM, GFTV’s team on-site actively sampled the atmosphere on the ground.
Attendees GFTV spoke to notably suggested putting “welcome zones” around the convention. They explained that such designated areas will ensure people like first-time attendees can safely make new friends in a new place without fear of judgement.
These suggestions were said at a time when FurUM’s event space is getting bigger and more furries globally are getting more interested toward the furcon.
The theme for next year’s event is ocean themed. Attendees who attended the closing ceremony told GFTV that FurUM will “fully use the first and third floors of the venue (Armada Hotel)” in 2024, which will significantly increase the event space.

值得注意的是，今年的出席人数超过了以往的记录。最新的统计数字为 728 人，表明 FurUM 在兽圈中越来越受欢迎。
筹款活动也超出了预期。兽展为 Katzen Cat Sanctuary 筹得了 18,518 马来西亚令吉（5,310.62 新元），比 2019 年的捐款大幅增加。
在整个 FurUM 期间，兽视的现场团队积极测温了当地气氛。
FurUM 的活动空间不断扩大、全球越来越多兽迷对该兽展感兴趣之际，与兽视团队交谈过的与会者建议在兽展周围设立“欢迎区”。
他们解释说，这些指定区域将确保像第一次参加兽展的兽友能够在新的地方安全地结交新朋友，而不必担心受到评判。
明年 FurUM 的主题将以海洋为主。参与闭幕式的与会者告诉兽视团队兽展主办将在 2024 年“满满使用会场酒店的一楼和三楼”，进而增大场地空间。
