Attendees at Motor City Fur Con (MCFC), a furry convention based in Michigan, USA, briefly evacuated the Ann Arbor Marriot at Eagle Crest after local police were alerted of a bomb threat.
The incident happened on Apr 7, 2024 (Sunday).
Local news outlet WDIV-4 reports, officials said a news outlet received an email claiming bombs had been “placed around the hotel”.
MCFC posted on X that attendees were evacuating as of 8.49am local time.
K-9 units then searched the hotel for bombs, but found nothing. MCFC got the “all-clear” at 12:30 p.m.
Local police in California have arrested a suspect thought to be responsible for the threat, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, added WDIV-4.
FOX 2 Detroit quoted a part of the bomb threat in their report:
“Bombs are in several hotel rooms, in several vehicles and roof tops. There are sharpnel and fuel bombs, bring the fire department.
Bombs will detonate within an hour of receiving this email. Next time we will kill you without warning, repent for your sins.
We are here to send a message not kill anyone so it is imperative you evacuate the building.”

This is the second time in a row a bomb threat alarmed MCFC.
In 2023, MCFC received an email from someone who “actually did threaten (the furcon) with a bomb,” their chairman Keet Collie told WWJ Newsradio 950. This led to an evacuation.
In both incidents, no one was hurt.
In spite of this, MCFC 2024 finished successfully with 2,032 attendees and US$23,214.17 donated to charity.

据当地媒体 WDIV-4 报道，当地官员称一家新闻组织通过电邮收到了这个炸弹威胁，其中声称“酒店周围”已放置炸药。
截止当地时间早上 8 点 49 分，MCFC 在 X 发推文说参会者们正在撤离会场。
搜爆队伍搜查后没找到炸药。兽展参会者们于中午 12 点 30 分被允许重返酒店。
WDIV-4 补充说，根据沃什特瑙县（Washtenaw County）警长办公室的消息，加利福尼亚州当地警方已逮捕一名据信应对威胁事件负责的嫌疑人。
FOX 2 Detroit 报道，炸弹威胁部分如下写着：
多个酒店房间、多个车辆和酒店屋顶上都摆了炸药。
炸弹在这个电邮收到的一小时后会引爆，下一次我们会不给警告杀了你们，为你的罪孽（sins）忏悔吧。
我们目的不是要伤人而是表达信息，你们因此必须离开会场。

2023 年，兽展主席 Keet Collie 向媒体表示，兽展收到了一个“真的用炸药威胁”的电邮，导致会场多一次被撤离。
两次事件中没有人受伤。
即使如此，MCFC 的 2024 活动成功落幕，有 2,032 参会者，也为慈善机构筹集了 23,214.17 美元。
