On July 12, 2024 (Friday), the FurRail Administration (FRA) organised a special event called “Fur Paws Express” (FurPE). The event was held on a special train, numbered 6334, under Taiwan Railways.

The FRA, a Taiwanese furry events team, worked together with a government-owned railway company to hold this event. This is a first in Taiwan’s furry fandom history.

Attendees were allowed to wear fursuits in the train and at designated stations. The train’s journey will end at Luodong Station, allowing them to make it for Taiwan’s FurMIT (Furry Meeting In Taiwan). FurMIT starts the day after.

On its journey, the train stopped at three stations, Nangang, Fulong, and Dali, for a long time. At Nangang, it was a 100-minute stop.

Attendees took advantage of this rare chance to take photos with the train and surrounding scenery on the platform.

The event offered two types of tickets: Ordinary(普通票)and “Furry”(毛毛套票)

Those who purchased the Furry ticket can wear fursuits on the train and platforms during the event. They also get to have the event’s photographers take their photos, and keep them as Polaroid photos.

The FRA also arranged for merch sales and ticket punching on the train.

Staff pushed around carts for attendees to buy event merch. Meanwhile, fursuiters dressed as conductors punched the attendees’ tickets and take photos.

One of the organizers, Bozon (包森), said he has always been fond of railways. He wondered if a similar event can take place in Taiwan, inspired by examples from Japan.

FurPE took more than seven months to plan. Successfully finishing Taiwan’s first furry event on a train, Bozon expressed his gratitude.

Speaking to FurTimes, Heck (赫克) said it was his first time wearing a fursuit at a train station. Resting on the train afterwards when tired was also a plus, he added. He would like to take part again if similar events are held in the future.

FurPE is the first event of its kind. Thus, organizer Bozon says any further planning will need a comprehensive review.

The FRA is also conducting a survey to gauge interest in future events. Furries interested in FurPE are encouraged to join the survey.
