US furcon Furry Weekend Atlanta (FWA) announced that registration prices for its 2026 convention will rise in two stages ahead of the event in May.
In a letter dated 30 June 2025, FWA chief executive Ranan said the adjustments reflected inflation and higher tariffs. “Despite our most fervent wishes to the contrary, FWA isn’t immune to the rising costs of goods and services,” he wrote to prospective attendees.
General registration for FWA 2026, themed Nowhere Inn Between, opened at US$85 (about S$115). Prices will increase to US$100 (S$135) on 1 August 2025, then to US$120 (S$160) in March 2026.
The Sponsor tier will be set at US$200 (S$270), while the Gold Sponsor tier will rise from US$500 (S$675) to US$600 (S$810) starting 1 August 2025.
In a Flayrah article, contributor EberraWolf compared historical convention data with inflation figures from the United States Bureau of Labour Statistics.
They found that ticket costs have risen faster than the US’ national inflation rate.
The same Flayrah report noted that the lowest three membership tiers currently match early-bird prices from FWA 2025. Because of this, attendees will not see an immediate increase if they register before the end of July 2025.
Over the past decade, FWA’s general registration prices have nearly doubled, rising from US$45 (S$60) in 2016 to the current opening rate of US$85 (S$115).
FWA 2025, at the time of their event, became the biggest furcon in the world with 17,736 attendees.
Organisers said higher operating costs and growing attendance are the main factors driving the price adjustments.
