Singaporean furry news and community platform Global Furry Television (GFTV) has released “Intro to Project Starlight”. This document sets out how GFTV intends to develop its communities further, including cross-border and inter-community collaboration.
Project Starlight (PSL) is a roadmap for a potential new Singapore-based furry convention before 2034. This was announced during GFTV’s 11th anniversary in 2025.
According to “Intro to Project Starlight”, PSL focuses on creating spaces for social interaction, dialogue, and mutual understanding. GFTV will also experiment with community event formats and, through PSL, showcase furry culture in a uniquely Singaporean context.
There are five areas currently under study, with timelines all not fixed. The areas are:
- A unified service platform for GFTV communities
- Enhanced “HelloSpot Welcome Zones” to support newcomer integration
- Collaboration with social service non-governmental organisations
- Integrated team and event infrastructure
- Cross-border, inter-community collaborations
PSL’s framework is grounded in GFTV’s multilingual and multicultural community, which spans 38 regions. That said, “Intro to Project Starlight” noted that Project Starlight wants to be accessible to those disconnected from English-dominant furry media spaces.
“Intro to Project Starlight” also stressed that PSL is neutral and non-political. GFTV will maintain PSL independently in full compliance with Singapore law. No organisation or individual may compel the project to participate or align in any political, ideological, or activist causes.
“Intro to Project Starlight” describes PSL as a study process rather than a commitment. GFTV will have ten years to study and decide if it wants to hold a new furcon.
But regardless of the outcome, GFTV will continue expanding its community work while assessing the potential for larger, collaborative initiatives over time.
The “Intro to Project Starlight” document is now available on the GFTV website.
- 建一个统一的服务平台,方便整合兽视的社群资源;
- 加强 “哈喽点”,帮助新兽迷更快融入;
- 和非政府组织(尤其是社会服务类的) 合作,扩大社群凝聚力;
- 建立更完善的团队和活动基础设施;
